The Lighthouse by Olivier Lalancette
The task was to provide the design of a cabin that could accomodate two researchers while they study the ecology of Mount-Royal. Having to build a 25 meters square shelter, the idea of expanding the living space through a deck going all around the house became obvious. The deck creates a path for the inhabitants in this natural environment and allows them to enjoy the park. My Mount-Royal cabin proposal is designed around the desire of being accessible from every side and follows the shape of a lighthouse. Also, this shelter has a windowed wall facing the south to maximize the amount light spread inside. Four windows surround the top part of the refuge and allow the inhabitants to have an observation space once they reach the mezzanine.
